	Science communication activities aim at educating citizens of all ages about science and generating awareness of science-related issues and a positive image of/attitude towards science. These activities can take direct forms (for instance through open days, museums or science centres) or be more indirect with mediators between the scientists and the public (e.g. via science journalists and their products such as TV programmes or media articles etc). Generally, a large number of different institutions are involved in science communication. Science communication produces linkages between science and society by creating or enabling transmission of knowledge about science and technology.
