A

  • Add marine biotech in school, programmes to ensure that the general public becomes familiar with marine biotechnologies;
  • Assess/quantify the social, economic and environmental risks;
  • Attract students into engineering courses;

C

  • Carry the project with "Ambassadors" or " figures" at the regional level (navigators, high-level sportsman, divers, swimmer);
  • Convince investors to facilitate the creation of a dynamic knowledge-sharing mechanism;
  • Create new models for evaluating risks and economic issues;
  • Create training programs targeting SMEs and investors by focusing on enablers and barriers;

D

  • Develop and implement awareness and educational campaigns;
  • Develop case studies on how municipalities work with climate change projects and community-driven innovation;
  • Develop educational programs to prepare specialists in the "renewable energy systems" field;
  • Develop efficient monitoring systems and assess the environmental impacts of best/worst policy practice;
  • Development of an educational platform for changing knowledge between public and private institutions;
  • Distinguish between occurrences and resources, in order to know what exists and its potential economic value;

E

  • Educate all stakeholders about sustainable tourism sustainability to achieve socially and environmentally acceptable goods and services;
  • Educate children on the importance of biodiversity and how to think about the environment responsibly;
  • Educate citizens about the value of the sea in their daily lives is necessary to raise ocean awareness and literacy;
  • Educate policy-makers to science to reinforce policies and adopt coherent legislative frameworks of economic competitiveness and sustainability of offshore wind energy;
  • Education is necessary for marine biotechnology development thus the need for developing university educational programmes on marine biotechnology;
  • Education is the most important aspect that can accelerate social change and climate change mitigation;
  • Empower European citizens, business representatives, researchers and policy makers to take informed decisions on the high seas through science education;
  • Encourage scientists and NGOs to popularize the different aspects of marine biotechnology through science café, forums, open days etc;
  • Encourage the production of socially and environmentally acceptable solutions and services with the science education of business and industry professionals;
  • Exchange with star chefs on new products from the transformation of marine resources to provide the opportunity to sensibilize a wider audience;
  • Explain clearly the MARINA project goals;

F

  • Facilitate collaboration between fundamental research and industry/market to create a dynamic knowledge-sharing mechanism;

I

  • Identify what are the society perceptions and knowledge gaps to be considered in future planning of Deep Sea Mining research and innovation initiatives;
  • Implement training and guidance for careers around marine biotechnologies to reduce marine pollution;
  • Improve marine education provided in medium and higher education;
  • Improving education/training;
  • Include more education aspects of citizenship, sustainability and ecology on schools;
  • Including marine/environmental education in school curricula;
  • Increase awareness in the use of raw materials and their importance on our society;
  • Increase environmental and science education to promote societal understanding and participation;
  • Increase the level of awareness of Marine Spatial Planning process and it's implication in coastal communities and for all stakeholders;
  • Inform and educate wider society of the impacts, challenges and potential solutions for coastal protection;
  • Invest in communication campaign from professionals, work with marketing societies to translate the scientific results into clear messages that can reach in particular young people;
  • Involve senior/retired scientific experts to communicate on marine biotech in layman's terms to ensure that the general public becomes familiar with the topic;
  • It's difficult to deliver a coastal protection strategy that is fit for purpose by all stakeholders;

L

  • Learn from education, rather than experience, is necessary to avoid climate changes impact;

M

  • Make lists of actions and players, record skills, know-how and economic potential, identify best practices and make full use of them to put marine biotechnologies on the national agenda;
  • Make the high seas more visible to all stakeholders, the benefits for all and the issues at stake;
  • Make the MARINA platform a case study platform where collaborative coastal climate solution projects are presented;
  • Multidisciplinary research considering the sustainability vector is key;

O

  • Open university faculties, strongly connected with wind farms to help the sustainable development of renewable energy;
  • Organise Open Days in companies to ensure that the general public becomes familiar with marine biotechnologies;
  • Organize of a Marine biotech day at the regional level including different actors to make the general public aware on the marine biotechnology sector and its potential;

P

  • Promote and develop responsible and sustainable tourism in a changing environment;
  • Promote education, training and more equal incomes for fishermen in the Azores;
  • Promote scientific knowledge and professional growth which have a fundamental role in supporting innovative sectors;
  • Promote the hot topic and the results (media, partners, stakeholders, etc);
  • Promote the meaning of the term "renewable energy systems";
  • Provide scientific education in all the scholar cycles: it is crucial;
  • Push for cooperation among academic institutions and the industry as it is crucial;

R

  • Raise awareness among pupils and students about environmental protection through informational programs as well as promote the specific sector as a means of employability;
  • Raise awareness among the general public to make informed choices and have an active social participation;
  • Raise awareness and spread information about marine biotechnologies to the different groups of stakeholders;
  • Raise awareness on aquaculture in the Azores;
  • Raise awareness through education for developing/supporting new technologies for responsible maritime transport;
  • Raise citizen and business awareness about environmental protection and sustainability;
  • Raise public awareness on the real problems;
  • Raise the attractiveness of science studies by illustrating the application of science in societal issues such as responsible shipbuilding and harbours;
  • Rising the public awareness regarding the benefits of renewable energy by promoting renewable energy methods;
  • Run awareness campaigns so that the issue problem is clearly understood by all stakeholders;

S

  • Save enough place for the presentation of science outcomes and sharing knowledge from the research point of view;
  • Scale up research and bring responses to the sustainable development of offshore wind farms with Science education;
  • Start a regional programme and raise awareness of tourism actors to ensure that the general public becomes familiar with marine biotechnologies;
  • Suggested actions were mainly focused on Science Education in sustainable development and marine resources management as a critical part of local culture and coastal tourism;

T

  • The education of young people and the use of exchange programs between schools will lead to active citizenship respectful of the environment;
  • The immersive climate change symbolizes a new age with new complicated needs and demands;
  • The need for a national strategy for coastal management in general, and coastal protection in specific, to overcome current fragmentation;
  • Train educators and information relays on marine biotechnologies to develop them in the field of marine pollution;
  • Translate in easy-to-understand messages research outputs and results for better dissemination. Consider using science mediators;
  • Try to develop a stronger engagement between schools and the local authorities for the maintenances of basic infrastructure;
