Fishing and Aquaculture
Commercial utilization of living being of the oceans and seas by catching or harvesting them with the consequent impact.
Commercial fishing: “Commercial fishing refers to the harvesting of fish, either in whole or in part, for sale, barter or trade”.[1] The term "commercial fishing" is defined as "fishing in which the fish harvested, either in whole or in part, are intended to enter commerce or enter commerce through sale, barter or trade."
Recreational fishing: "Recreational fishing" means "fishing for sport or pleasure." [2]
Charter fishing: "Fishing from a vessel carrying a passenger for hire...who is engaged in recreational fishing."
Marine aquaculture: It refers to the culturing of species that live in the ocean. It implies some form of intervention in the rearing process to enhance production, such as regular stocking, feeding, protection from predators, etc. Farming also implies individual or corporate ownership of the stock being cultivated” [3].
